『Nebul-era』
2026

When I went out into space and thought about returning home, I realized, “That’s where I was born,” and I thought I’d probably explain to someone that Earth looks that blue because of the water—and probably because of the air, too.
I thought that if I were to return my body to its origin, it might be the ocean—since it was originally formed from liquid that solidified. That is what we call “breathing,” and viewing my body as a collection of cosmic dust that comes together and disperses, I contemplated a way of breathing for the nebula.
The scanned images of various parts of my body and a few words are all places where the soul’s spirit resides, and they serve as tools for re-recognizing them. When a person is born, they inherit 23 chromosomes from each of their parents—a total of 46, or 23 pairs. I continue to dissolve 23 body parts and 23 words, randomly combined, in seawater. I recall my childhood—how the waves tasted of salt or iron—rewrite those memories, and forget them again, all as a rehearsal for the moment when I return my body to the sea.
